Bet on Big Fella Thanks with Ladbrokes 20/1

Fourth last year, when trained by Paul Nicholls. He was owned by Harry Findlay who switch the horse to the Yorkshire yard of Ferdy Murphy and has now sold him but he remains with Ferdy Murphy. Graham Lee takes the ride, he has of course won the Grand National in the past with Amberley House, for Ginger McCain.

Ferdy Murphy has a knack of landing big handicaps, particularly at Cheltenham and has targeted Big Fella Thanks at the Grand National, so he will be exceptionally fit. We know from last year that he jumps very well and seemed to just find the weight telling in the latter stages. The handicapper has relented slightly so he has a better chance and is definitely a leading player.

He is running in light blue and white colours, the first time he has run in these colours. Still only an eight year-old he will be a Grand National regular for the next two or three years. He will be popular with name backers, we all know a Big Fella, but will we be saying thanks to this Big Fella in the 2011 Grand National?

He has been very lightly campaigned this season and vibes are very strong from the yard. He will be popular with Yorkshireman, being trained in the lovely North Yorkshire Yard of Ferdy Murphy who has a good record of improving horses. Big Fella Thanks though comes from the Champion Trainer’s stable of Paul Nicholls, but do not think that Ferdy Murphy can not get this one to win despite Nicholls not doing so in the Grand National. Murphy is one of the shrewdest trainers and in Graham Lee, in the saddle we have one of the best Northern based jockeys of recent years.

This is a very strong chance for the Grand National and at the prices is a very good each-way bet.
