|Paul Nicholls||Harry Skelton||149|
|Long considered the first string from the Nicholls’ yard but I’m not convinced. Won the Irish National for Bob Buckler back in 2009 but didn’t look a natural over these fences when pulled up in last year’s renewal.|
Trainer Paul Nicholls, jockey Harry Skelton, other number 12, 12-year-old, orange colours.
Bet on Niche Market with Ladbrokes 25/1
Trained by champion trainer Paul Nicholls and written by Harry Skelton, who is the son of showjumper Nick. Paul Nicholls has never won the Grand National and Niche Market is one of several entries for him today. He is a very capable individual and after missing out in 2009 he won the Irish Grand National at big odds. He also landed a big chase Ascot at odds of 33/1. He only seems to win at big odds!
Niche Market is very much the stable second string, with What a Friend being the first. However Paul Nicholls would not send this horse to Aintree if he did not think it stood a great chance of winning the Grand National. He is a grand old horse with plenty to recommend him.
Niche Market ran in the Grand National last year but was unlucky and received an injury which put paid to his chances. He is back this year for another crack, and given his age, it is likely to be his last. Can he go out in style? It certainly looks at tall order but this is a horse that has the ability and certainly has a young jockey very much on an upward curve and he’s one of those horses who constantly springs surprise and rewards his backers with big odds.
Those of you who like orange colours will be backing Niche Market. He’s on the right side of 11 stone and as we know at Aintree anything can happen and Niche Market is one of the better each way bets on the card.
